Art on Main set for Saturday
The Madison Art Council’s Art on Main show and sale will be held Saturday, June 5. Local artists will brush, dab and blend their work from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Madison's historic district, adjacent to Main Street Café.
Madison Arts Council (MAC) sponsors the event on the first Saturday of the month from April through September.
In past shows, artists have shown their work in oil and watercolor paintings, jewelry making, pottery, miniature portraits and landscapes, photography and basket weaving.
A frequent presenter in past years, Yuri Ozaki with Ozaki Fine Art is one of the artists attending the June 5 show.
Exposure of the talents of these artists to the public is a primary goal of Art on Main. The event also serves as a MAC fundraiser. In addition, visitors can stroll the historic area and stop by the shops and restaurants.
Any area artist is eligible to apply. Applications are available on MAC's website (www.madisonartscouncil.net).
For jury consideration, entrants must send a digital photo of their work or a link to their online gallery. The fee is $35 and refundable if the event is canceled due to rain.
MAC volunteers will assist artists by running errands, bringing water and offering comfort breaks.
MAC is a non-profit organization that promotes the arts by giving local arts groups, artists and organizations an outlet and a voice for their talents and gifts. The council strives to bridge the information gap between artists and the audience.
MAC awards grants annually to visual and performing arts groups, especially in Madison schools.
