Madison Community Band to kick off concert series tonight, Stewart on deck for next week

The 2010 Concerts in the Park starts tonight, June 3, at the Madison Gazebo on the Village Green in historic downtown Madison. The Madison Arts Council (MAC) sponsors the concert series.
The weekly concerts will continue through August on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Madison Community Band will kick off the free entertainment with patriotic music, Sousa marches, slices of Americana and familiar favorites from television, movies and Broadway musicals. Dave Ryan is conductor.
Also, Olde Towne Brass will deliver period music and historical facts from the Civil War. They play authentic, over-the-shoulder brass horns and have performed throughout the United States (www.otbrass.com).
Jeffrey Scott Stewart is scheduled for next week, June 10. A Nashville resident, Stewart is a singer, songwriter and plays several musical instruments. His CD, Live Dogs, is receiving airplay worldwide.
Unless a severe weather warning is in effect, cancellation decisions are made at 6 p.m. on concert day. Rain dates are not scheduled.
