The police department in Madison is implementing a set of objectives officers will be focused on this summer called “Protecting our Community” initiative.
The program, designed to be proactive in the department’s fight against crime, has three major goals:
- Enforce Traffic Laws.
- Reduce Property Crimes.
Provide Community Neighborhood Training Programs.
“Protecting our community is not only important, it is paramount to improving quality of life,” said Police Chief Larry Muncey.
Police officials say that a recent survey conducted by the MPD has overwhelmingly conveyed the desire for increased police presence in Madison neighborhoods.
“Our aspiration is to increase interaction with citizens in our community and note citizens’ concerns and requests in order to better fulfill the mission of the City,” said Muncey.
“Madison is a community of neighborhoods comprised of families,” Madison Mayor Paul Finley added. “Focusing our police in the neighborhoods helps ensure we are protecting the core of our community.”
Citizens with concerns or information about criminal activity, speeding motorists, or other public safety related needs should contact the newly appointed Community Officer, Lt. John Stringer at (256) 772-5658, (256) 990-0286 or by email at john.stringer@madisonal.gov.
Muncey said that Lt. John Stringer has been awarded the privilege of being the first MPD Community Officer, and has been entrusted with the responsibility of orchestrating and ensuring the success of the “Protecting Our Community” Initiative. |
