In addition to the recently announced I-565/County Line Road right-of-way acquisition project, City Engineer Gary Chynoweth said the city will be releasing a major street plan for Madison in about a month.

Heavily-congested roads in Madison that take priority in terms of adding lanes. These high-priority roads include Highway 72, Madison Boulevard and Slaughter Road.

More than 22,000 cars travel along Hughes Road daily, and this road, which is "over capacity" will need to have additional lanes to make traffic more fluid, said Chynoweth. "Traffic came before the cash flow, and we're playing catch up right now."

"County Line Road is okay," said Chynoweth, adding that the road needs to be maintained and paved as time progresses.
