Patriot defensive lineman commits to Murray State
By Andrew Melton Madison Magazine
Bob Jones defensive lineman, Jeremy Brackett has decided to keep it all in the family and follow his older brother’s footsteps and commit to Murray State University.
Murray State is located in Murray, Kentucky and is a four-year public university with a student body of approximately 10,000 students. When asked why he chose Murray State, Brackett said he liked the idea of playing for a Division I school, but more importantly it would be an easy trip for his parents. "They would be able to make one trip to come watch my older brother and I play."
Jeremy also liked the connection he had with the coaches at Murray, including Coach Parker, the defensive line coach Jeremy described as "pretty cool".
Brackett enjoyed his time at Bob Jones and under Coach Keith Rose was one of the leading defensive linemen on a Patriots team that racked up five shutouts on the 2010 season. “I enjoyed finally beating Buckhorn and Decatur, and being a part of the winningest team in Bob Jones history.”
The 2010 Patriots went further into the playoffs than any other team at Bob Jones, as well as holding Region 8 to just seven points a game during the regular season.
The strongest advice he would give to any future Bob Jones Patriots would be to “listen to the coaches because they know what they are talking about. The player’s job is to go out there and work hard every play and every day, to the best of their ability.” |
