RCU returns home; hopes to rebound from loss
This Saturday Rocket City United returns to Madison City Schools Stadium after two weeks on the road and will face Chattanooga FC beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Chattanooga sits atop the southeast division with a 3-0-1 record while RCU is in second with a record of 2-1-1.
RCU fell to Tulsa FC last Saturday with a final score of 1-2.
Saturday’s game is a must win for RCU, as it would put them in first place among the division.
RCU officials said they hope to draw a large crowd.
“Chattanooga is roughly the same size of Huntsville, but at their last game vs. Atlanta FC they had over 2,900 in attendance,” said RCU spokesperson Kristen Pierce.
“I'd like to put out a personal challenge to our community to out-do Chattanooga's fans by getting 3,000 people at this game. Chattanooga outbid us for the VW plant, let's not be outdone by them again,” RCU team owner and President Andy Zorovich said.
At the game, RCU will donate $50 per goal to the Royal Family Kids Club (RFKC) of Madison.
RFKC is the nation’s leading network of camps for abused, neglected, and abandoned children. The RFKC-Madison program is a week long summer camp serving children that have been placed in the custody of Madison County Department of Human Resources.
Tickets are available at the gate or at www.rocketcityunited.com.
